We are delighted that Professor Sue Thornham has accepted out invitation to join us at the conference.
Professor Thornham is Professor of Media and Film Studies at the University of Sussex, as well as being the Head of the School of Media, Film and Music. She is an eminent presence within the academy, and her monographs include Feminist Theory and Cultural Studies and Women, Feminism and Media.
She has edited several books on media theory and cultural studies, and we very much look forward to her contribution on the debate over the future for women in the media.
We are delighted to announce that Dr. Laurel Forster will also be joining us at the conference.
Dr. Forster is Senior Lecturer in the School of Creative Arts, Film and Media at the University of Portsmouth. Her research interests include women’s writing, women’s cultures, feminism and media representations of women, women’s magazines and their cultural contexts.
Recent publications include work on feminism and women’s magazines; modernism, war and May Sinclair; and 1970s British television.She is presently writing a monograph on women’s magazines, looking at the political and social impact some magazines have had on British women’s history. We warmly welcome her contribution to the conference.
